Far View Lodge, hotel in Mesa Verde National Park

This Colorado lodge is located in the Mesa Verde National Park. This lodge offers 3 restaurants and a refrigerator in every room.

For the money I paid, the service and room cleanness are poor. No shampoo or soap in the shower, and no fresh towels or room service during our stay.

Mesa Verde is a magical place, to get onto the tours for the cliff dwellings you must make reservations in advance at recreation.gov - the rangers are so knowledgeable. There is reserved camping in the park and a few places to eat, a museum, you need a lot of water on your hikes - please be prepared. Kid friendly. View point areas seem to be wheelchair accessible- but please check on that info. This is a sacred place and former home of Indigenous peoples - please be respectful

I came to be able to climb into and walk through the cliff dwellings. I was initially told I could only sign up for the ranger led tour on site. About 10 days before my visit I discovered reservations for the ranger led tour (the only way to get in to the cliff dwellings) had to be made in advance. Reservations are available 14 days in advance and are immediately taken. Not being able to climb into and walk through the cliff dwellings was a major disapointment.

We enjoyed taking the Long House tour and the Cliff Palace tour. The Park Rangers were very informative and passionate about the Ancestral Puebloan people and preserving their heritage. I loved the ladders! The views are beautiful. The road is very curvy. You need to allow ample time to get to your destination. Be sure to stop at the Visitor Center/Gift Shop to view the exhibits. You may want to bring in a cooler with food because there are not many food options within the Park.

    Wonderful to see the sites.

Wonderful to see the sites. Rangers and guides are very informative and respectful (in my opinion of the indigenous peoples both the ancestors and descendents). Complicated process of getting tickets and finding them online. They are released 2 weeks in advance but could come available as people cancel. Seems like there should be an easier process. Glad I went while I'm still able to do the hiking and ladder climbing required to see most of the important sites. Don't underestimate what is required. We had to walk about 1 1/4 to the meeting place and then the Ranger drove up to meet us! Then we had to hike some more over uneven steps and the famous ladders! Staying at the Lodge is worth the views (especially on a clear night and more especially if it is a full moon) and for the convenience of not stressing a long drive from Cortez or Durango to get to a tour on time.

Excellence access to all of the park that was open.

Excellence access to all of the park that was open. Accommodations clean and simple. Wi-Fi access is very limited - you'll get better reception in the main reception area mores so than the cabins, so stock up on maps and guides and download park maps from the app. Touring in the late afternoon toward sunset gets the best views and the least heat.

Unique park with excellent tour, however very difficulty to attain with limited access. Many sites are unavailable to see now, would recommend waiting to 2023/2024 when improvements are complete. Far View restaurant is decent , with wonderful views. Hotel should be avoided ifyou need wifi.
